Mary Chieffo, a statuesque 6 feet tall at age sixteen, is the daughter of successful character actors, Beth Grant and Michael Chieffo , has grown up on locations and sound stages. Her mom loves to tell the story of Mary's "acting debut " at age three when she brilliantly played a "sleeping girl" in Making Sandwiches (1998), a short directed by Sandra Bullock , which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Mary stars in the 2009 release, Herpes Boy (2009) and is set to star in The New York Way (2010). Mary was asked by director Zach Horton to make her feature debut playing the younger version of her mother's character in Natural Disasters (2008), a feature which will be released this year. The film also stars John Diehl and Charlie Robinson . Mary will also be seen in Bee Afraid (2000), starring Tim DeKay and Ally Walker , wherein she plays a 1950s teenager with a beehive hairdo who is wildly and comically attacked by an indestructible, genius bumble bee. She began rehearsals to play opposite Nick Braun in a web series directed by award -wining director Mary Thompson. At the Highland Hall Waldorf School, Mary played "Moses", complete with a beard, to Alison Altman 's ( Robert Altman 's granddaughter), "God" in "Child Of The Nile". She was also a rollicking "Weird Sister" in the drama of "Persius". Mary was one of only eleven sixth-graders accepted into the Millikan Musical Theatre Academy where the teachers are seasoned professionals with Broadway and Hollywood credentials. Millikan is the school of choice for many young working actors. Mary attended Millikan for three years where she had lead roles in "Annie" as "Star-To-Be", and "The Sound Of Music", playing "The Baroness", in which she choreographed her singing number "How Can Love Survive?" Mary is on the Headmaster's List at her school with a 4.5 average. Last year, she played the dry-witted waitress, "Dot", in George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart 's "Once In A Lifetime", directed by Josh Adell . Mary, who has a natural four-octave range, also studies Vocal Skills with Frank Basile , who holds degrees from Yale, Northwestern and USC. She has studied Martha Graham Modern Dance with Karen Fox for nine years and is in the Contemporary Dance Company at her school where she regularly performs and choreographs. Since she was eight, Mary and her friends have improvised, written, shot and edited videos. They are developing a modern-day feminist version of "Frankenstein". Mary has grown up in Hollywood yet she remains real and down to earth. An all-star soccer goalie for ten years, Mary Chieffo is a most unusual young woman who, like her parents, loves to act more than anything.
